The clock counts down to the official reveal of Kia's now-confirmed ute, new renders continue to appears to whet our appetites for just what to expect from the Korean brand's Toyota HiLux and Ford Ranger rival.
Today's renders, the work of SRK Designs, use the Kia Sorento as a base vehicle but then toughen-up the family-focused SUV with some sharp body lines, blacked-out side steps and wheel arches.
It sill looks car-based, rather than the ladder-frame ute we've been promised, but the design of the Sorento is a strong starting point, and the finished product looks the goods.
Sadly, this is a ute imagined by a designer, rather than anything official from Kia, but the clock is now counting down to the ute's legitimate unveiling. Both Kia and Hyundai have confirmed they will have a dual-cab ute in Australia as early as 2022, and work on the vehicle has officially begun, which means the first spy pics are surely getting closer.
"Work has begun,” Kia's COO, Damien Meredith, confirmed to CarsGuide at the international launch of the Seltos in Korea. “We’re talking about a dual-cab, a single-cab - what we’ve requested is the full gamut for the ute, and that (includes) a dual-cab with diesel and petrol options.
